However, once the main window interface launches, an error dialog pops up (output attached) and the main menu bar in replaced by a red 'X' (image attached). Just tested with Wine 1.01 and can confirm that it is indeed working on 1.01.

And when you set gdiplus to native, is there a difference?
Yes, when gdiplus is set to native, the menu bar is drawn, and there is no error message.
