In the archive the only Windows-executables are the intro file (2k_intro.exe) which is reported to run fine in Wine and the uninst.exe. All other executables are DOS exes. Dosbox-0.65 is included in the archive (it is also a Win executable). Both windowed and full screen crash. Didn't debug. The game itself is DOS, and it works fine when run directly in native DOSBox (including sound) or by using Wine to run the Windows version of DOSBox installed by the game and then starting the game in that (no sound, as mentioned). What doesn't work is using Wine to start RDX.BAT, RDX2.BAT, or RRT.EXE. The first script plays 2k_intro.exe (a Windows executable) successfully, then fails trying to run RDX2.BAT. Running RDX2.BAT directly results in two DOSBox windows appearing briefly (one native, one the Windows version installed by the app), then closing. Running RRT.EXE in Wine results in a native DOSBox window opening briefly and then closing. It's possible that this is something that has already been fixed in DOSBox. It's possible that this is something that has already been fixed in DOSBox. It will never work when run from RDX.BAT, because that script explicitly uses the DOSBox version bundled with the game (0.65), which is way too old to work with Wine. I'm marking this upstream, and it is already fixed upstream, but I'm not sure if this should be closed yet. The current DOSBox release, 0.74, doesn't include the fix, and I don't know how many distros (if any) are packaging the SVN version (openSUSE doesn't).
