From watching the installer, I noticed several .wmv files installed. Game asked for d3dx9_30.dll, which was copied from my other harddrive partition to the game folder. Game launches easily, showing the splash screen, and then this error:
DXC Error (DirectX9) DXC_VideoPlayerOverlayBase: CoCreateInstance failed (VideoMixingRenderer) Upon clicking "Ok", the game crashes. The latest version of the game is 1.04 now. I had to install directx libraries via winetricks to prevent an early crash due to some unimplemented functions in d3dx9_36.dll. Afterwards the game launches correctly, doesn't crash, but displays a message that videos cannot be played due to missing DX libraries / video codecs. Videos still not played after these overrides, the same messages are shown about missing DX libraries / video codecs at startup. I installed all defaults (demo). Started via launcher, all defaults. And it gave some popup about .tga file. This reminds me about another bug.
I am stuck, without using any overrides.

Wine-staging 1.7.54 goes forward. It can't play the movie but it shows a screen and complains about directx or codec missing. The error message is generated by the game. The video files are in wmv format or at least that's their extension.
