Installation and configuration and so is all ok, but when I try to play a file (avi or cdg), I can't get it work. Disabling winegstreamer avoids the crash; to actually play a video, you also have to install a Windows codec pack. (There are still problems with the playback, but that's a separate issue.) The attached log is from testing with the daytona_crw.mpg file I've been using to test other winegstreamer issues; I figured using that would make it easier to reproduce, and I know from other tests that winegstreamer can play that file. I tested the file you mentioned: daytona_crw.mpg downloadable at http://fgouget.free.fr/tmp/wine-test-videos/daytona_crw.mpg and for me, it works. No problem.
