Operation flashpoint GOTY edition (thats original + flashpoint and resistance)
doesn't start.  It gets to preferences, but upon clicking start one of 2 things
happens:

if you select flashpoint as your game, it pops up a message "Cannot set primary
buffer format", and the console gives us:

This sound card's driver does not support direct access
The (slower) DirectSound HEL mode will be used instead.

if you select the original game, we get nothing but crash output:

This is on gentoo amd64, kernel 2.6.16, wine version 0.9.14.
