When I start Powerpoint Viewer 2007, it crashes immediately (No screen shows up, it's purely one 'fixme' message on the command line.

Need to correct me. Works fine though. File Open Dialog starts without issue. What wine are you using?

Sounds like it didn't install properly. Can you: $ rm -rf ~/.wine Install PPV 2007 $ cd ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Microsoft\ Office/Office12/ $ wine PPTVIEW.EXE And see if it works? Where are you getting wine? I was using the WineHQ apt repository, but I'm afraid I can't execute those commands right now. Due to some overactive tinkering, I nuked my Ubuntu install a few weeks back, and I've been to busy to reinstall.
