Error message with builtin dsound.dll

With builtin dsound UserLayout.exe complains it cannot change the soundcard
configuration.
No interessting (default channels) debug output...

Dirt 2 ships with version 2.3 of the software. Maybe OP was using the
official/newer one?

I suspect this may be related to the SetSpeakerConfig very much "somehow"
getting progressed in 1.7.34.

On the other hand, until 2017 the default windows wine version was XP and you
could still consider that behaviour wrong.
