[Bug 26021] New: Services.exe stops any process required by wine.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26021 Summary: Services.exe stops any process required by wine. Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: Nothingmuchheretosay(a)yahoo.com Whenever I attempt to click on anything that requires Wine to start, services.exe happens to show up in the System monitor and nothing happens after a LONG time. Note that it has done this numerous times when upgrading to another version of wine, sometimes it's successful, and sometimes it's not. Unlike the "services.exe uses 100% of CPU" bug, it doesn't use anything, except block what I'm about to run/install. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Whenever I attempt to click on anything that requires Wine to start, services.exe happens to show up in the System monitor and nothing happens after a LONG time. Note that it has done this numerous times when upgrading to another version of wine, sometimes it's successful, and sometimes it's not. Unlike the "services.exe uses 100% of CPU" bug, it doesn't use anything, except block what I'm about to run/install.
I also forgot to mention that when I kill or end the services.exe program, Wine immediately starts up properly. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

This could be caused by installed service (that some application did install in your wine prefix), try to remove .wine and start from a scratch to see if winecfg starts up fine. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

It worked, however what can I do to avoid this? Because I do not want to re download all of my apps to a new prefix. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26021 --- Comment #4 from Nikolay Sivov <bunglehead(a)gmail.com> 2011-02-07 18:54:55 CST --- You need to figure out what application caused that, it installed a service (installer usually does it or program on first run for example) that doesn't work correctly under wine. After you find out a particular application that slows down wine startup we could try to figure out what's wrong with this service. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I believe after a crash in TF2 I had to restart my computer. That might have caused it. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
