When I try to install the Mechwarrior 2 demo, it spikes the CPU to 100% and
just sits there, never doing anything.

Console output:
$ wine mech2dem.exe

mech2dem.exe appears to be ARJ Archive Self-Extractor, a dos program which
unpacks another ARJ Self Extractor which unpacks another dos program,
Mechwarrior 2 demo.

I suggest you run this with dosbox http://dosbox.com instead of wine until such
support becomes available in wine.
