You forgot the second step in the work-around: copy oleaut32.dll from a windows
partition to ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/ and run with
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="oleaut32=n" wine applicationname.exe

(that's what i meant with using native oleaut32)
