http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10744 --- Comment #1 from Jonathan <echidnaman(a)gmail.com> 2008-03-26 16:46:11 --- I finally had the luck to be able to go in-game. The game itself doesn't suffer these slowdowns, that is until you bring up the pause menu. It's probably safe to say that whatever is being used to draw the menus is what is at fault. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

The bad performance is due to the lack of a DIB engine. There's lots of GetDC/ReleaseDC and blitting. I did a +ddraw trace on a hunch. The bad performance is due to the lack of a DIB engine. There's lots of GetDC/ReleaseDC and blitting. Oh well.
"Lots of GetDC/ReleaseDC and blitting" is not an absolute indication of a weak performance due to a lack of DIB engine. DIB engine is not a magic thing. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I googled around and found a Robot Arena demo here: http://www.terragame.com/robot-arena.html The program never opened a Window but didn't crash out right, instead it would print "fixme:msxml:DllCanUnloadNow" to the terminal every 5 seconds or so. I ctrl-c'ed it after about 10 minutes. There's definitely a bug here, but I can't yet confirm the original bug as I don't have the full game - Jonathan, if you're still around, would you kindly retest on the lates Wine (1.1.26)?
