It will show the following error in a messagebox: "An installation support file 'C:\windows\temp\{2EC1A4D5-4217-4ABF-A783-3706EE405716}\isrt.dll' could not be installed. (0x80070002)". The wine output contains the following repeated message: "err:ole:marshal_object object doesn't expose interface {be6115a1-7de5-48dc-ad2a-25060e00fce2}, failing with error 0x80004002 err:ole:ClientIdentity_QueryMultipleInterfaces IRemUnknown_RemQueryInterface failed with error 0x80004002", before that there's just a few fixmes. The game uses an InstallShield Wizard. does the problem occur on an older version of Wine? Only tried 1.1.33 (comes with ubuntu karmic) and 1.1.35, I don't have any old versions around.

Temporary regression under 1.1.41 but not 1.1.39? I would say 'temporarily resolved'. Hi William, you always have a chance to do a regression test to find out, what patch caused the troubles. If you have doubt, follow: http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting But in this case, i guess it's well known InstallShield issue in 1.1.41. As for regression testing, I am always loathe to do it. I'm currently just a casual user that likes to share his experiences for the benefit of others. Someday I'll get more serious about programming and look at source code.
No, you don't need to know _anything_ about programming. I'm also only casual user, not a programmer. And i quite successfuly looking for regressions, so quality of wine does not get worse through active development. Of course, quality depends if someone is interested and promptly fixes such regression. After I noted that it should be fixed I tried updating, however 1.1.42 was not in the wine repo for Karmic yet.
