I reverted the following change and it's fine again. Describe what the hell you mean under "mouse skips"? What HW? What video? What FPS?
When I move the mouse around, it "jumps back" to the old position. HW: GeForce 6600GT, I don't know about FPS. I'd guess it's around 20 or so. Hope this helps. Could you increase timeout to say 20000 (20 sec)? Does it make any difference?

It was fixing a known problem but had a side affect. I'm reverting the patch and trying a different fix this time. Hopefully it won't break anything this time.
