[Bug 9646] New: C&C Gold: Installer error when installation media is mounted ISO
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9646 Summary: C&C Gold: Installer error when installation media is mounted ISO Product: Wine Version: 0.9.44. Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: wine-binary AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: nodisgod(a)yahoo.com I am trying to use an ISO image of C&C 95 from an smbfs mount as installer media. I mounted the ISO image with the mount command on /mnt/isomnt, and I have configured Wine drives accordingly, adding an entry for the aforementioned mount point and setting drive type to CD-ROM. After setting Windows version to Windows 98, I set my current directory in Terminal to /mnt/isomnt, and run wine setup.exe. The InstallShield launcher loads, but after the installer finishes unpacking files, a dialog pops up: "Unable to locate necessary files. Please run Setup.exe from the CD-ROM disc." If the game is installed from an actual burned CD, there are absolutely no problems. The game can now be obtained for free from (http://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/misc/c_c/GDI95.iso) and (http://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/misc/c_c/NOD95.iso). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

And the user running the installation must have read/write access to the loopback device.
Probably a silly question, but all the drive mappings in winecfg I see refer to mount points. How should I get the ISO to work properly, if adding the mount point of the ISO doesn't do it? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9646 --- Comment #4 from James Hawkins <truiken(a)gmail.com> 2007-09-12 23:27:37 --- If you have hal setup correctly, wine should recognize the mounted ISO just fine. The only problem then is that you don't have read/write perms on the loopback device. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Right, autorun.exe and other stuff run okay, I even tested chmodding /dev/loop0 to 777, and mounted with ownership to my user account. However, still the same thing, what am I doing wrong? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
