Installs ok, won't start unless you do "winetricks mfc42".
Then it starts, and notices it needs an update;
if you accept, it downloads it and then fails with "reason 13".
"winetricks wininet" works around this, and gets you to the
next problem.

I wasn't able to reproduce this with today's git.  The client installed fine,
and as you said, needed 'winetricks mfc42' to run.  The update downloaded and
installed, then the client failed to log in, which isn't surprising since I
don't have a login in ActiveWorlds.

Resolving fixed.  Please reopen if it still doesn't update for you.
