When disabling compiz it works (there are some problems in the menus - no text). But in terms of the whole screen turning black that doesn't happen.
That makes this bug invalid, please report the problem to Compiz developers. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20559 --- Comment #7 from Mike van Niekerk <mvniekerk(a)gmail.com> 2009-11-03 02:23:36 --- So there is no way Wine developers are going to see why this happens? Great. Compiz is enabled on most if not all Ubuntu installations. I'm not convinced that the user will see "It is a Compiz bug" as sufficient. Wine runs Windows applications on Ubuntu (or any Compiz enabled distro for that matter) and it really looks bad if one installs this and all you get is a blank screen. I've tested it with Codeweavers CrossOver Office 8.0 and the same problem persists. Please reconsider this on the argument that Compiz has become the standard and that there is no other applications (except Wine) on Linux that creates this blacked out screen. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20559 --- Comment #8 from Sven <septim.dt(a)gmail.com> 2009-11-03 02:31:57 --- That compiz is being used by many distros doesn't mean it doesn't contain bugs. They should support wine, and not the other way round. Just as much as wine bugs should be reported here, not necessaryly at the windows application's support. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20559 --- Comment #9 from Mike van Niekerk <mvniekerk(a)gmail.com> 2009-11-03 02:40:02 --- Understood. But there is still a part that Wine can play in running on a platform and running on a platform properly. In the very least Wine can help the Xorg developers in finding the root of this problem. If our binaries causes drawing anomalies then it is also our responsibility to find out why our binaries are causing this. Google Earth doesn't cause a blacked out screen on XP, Vista or 7. Vista + 7 runs on a composited environment (like Compiz) without problems. When Wine tries to run this application on the de facto composition environment of Linux it creates a blacked out screen. What I'm getting at is that Wine also has a part to play in this problem. http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24867 That is the Compiz bug I've just created. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
