https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49208 --- Comment #21 from Mohammad Amin Chitgarha <machitgarha(a)outlook.com> --- The problem fixed by removing .local/share/wineprefixes/.wine32 directory. AFAIK, to make a clean environment, one should remove only the $HOME/.wine directory, am I right? By the way, it may be an incompatibility change with recent versions of Wine-staging, as there was no error before upgrading to Wine-staging 5.8 (e.g. from 5.5 to 5.6 or 5.6 to 5.7). The confirms by others (on recent distros like Fedora 32 and Ubuntu 20.04) seem to prove that. As a result, I will not mark this bug as resolved; this should be a incompatibility bug. I'm trying to reproduce the steps again, and after making sure the steps are reproducible, I'll post them here.
Thanks, but the reason for the problem is pretty much clear at the moment, no new information required. kernelbase.dll has grown in size and in some builds (bit more likely on Staging but mainstream also) does not fit between its supposed base address and kernel32.dll. When that happens, kernelbase gets relocated to the lower address space and takes the place of .exe image which is built relocations. I think the fix will follow but for the moment stripping kernelbase.dll is a temporary workaround. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Yep. With wine-5.9-101-ge48fabff52, installed wine works. Reverting 613389059006270fc89abdfb984c43e6fa742a9a makes wineboot hang again. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

I'm unable to do anything whether I wipe the wineprefix or not. Wine 5.6 works normally, all later versions don't.
Yup, and im sure it started with fd7992972b252ed262d33ef604e9e1235d2108c5 . There is A LOT of issues following that commit. We could patch it for some time until last week some commits ruined even that. I just tried it with vanilla, staging, patched and unpatched, as wow64 build, as 64bit only build, it doesnt even create a proper prefix anymore. This is my bugreport to all this, our game StarCitizen isnt working since this change in wine and we have no idea yet whats going on .. /shrug -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
