[Bug 20846] New: Sanitarium crashes if not launched from its directory
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20846 Summary: Sanitarium crashes if not launched from its directory Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P5 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: cerebro.alexiel(a)gmail.com Created an attachment (id=24977) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=24977) Log showing the crash First of all, I set the priority to the lowest level because running the game from its directory don't make the game crashing. Then, I have to say that I compiled wine yesterday (so it's the latest). Before bad news, I want to say that the '-w' option now works perfectly (the game stay in the window and do not go back to (0,0) px ) I don't know if I have to provide steps how to reproduce the bug as the summary of it is (I think) enough explicit. But don't hesitate to tell me what you need. Does the application behave the same way on Windows? If so, this bug is invalid.
What do you mean ? The game launches and runs perfectly if we start it from its directory. Don't you see the log ? I made :
wine --version wine-1.1.33-blabla wine /path/to/the/game *crashing* cd /path/to/the/game wine Sntrm.exe *all is ok, I clicked "Exit" on the screen, the game closed normally*
I didn't tried on Windows but as he works well when I cd to the correct location, I wonder why I should test it on Windows. But if you want me to test it on Windows, I can do it now. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I made :

I think that makes this bug invalid since the recommended wayto start the programs is to cd to their location first. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

This bug is not very important but I think it's still a bug. Unfortunately, launching the game from VirtualBox makes it crashing. I think it's because my video card is not yet supported (software rendering). But I guess it should run fine from the command line (cmd.exe) whatever is the current 'working directory'. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

It's a bug in the application. The same thing will likely happen on windows. But I guess it should run fine from the command line (cmd.exe) whatever is the current 'working directory'. Don't guess, test it with something like: c: cd \ c:\full\path\to\program.exe
Many Windows programs will fail (on Windows too) if started that way. Lots of programmers don't know rhe fact that double-clicking on an executable in explorer changes current working directory to the directory with the file. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
