[Bug 19390] New: Wine freezes Flash Player in Opera Browser
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19390 Summary: Wine freezes Flash Player in Opera Browser Product: Wine Version: 1.1.26 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P1 Component: wineserver AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: diva_orhidea(a)abv.bg My distro is Ubuntu 9.04. If Wine is working Flash Player(9 or 10) in my Opera Browser(9.64) doesn't work properly. When I'm trying to open a web site with Flash elements the site slows down and whole Opera Browser freezes for 5-10 minutes or more and eventually the site loads well but without Flash sound. If I close Wine(end wineserver process) all works perfectly. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

My Opera is the latest native Linux version from www.opera.com(opera-static_9.64.2480.gcc295.qt3_i386.deb for Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope, Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex, Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron). I don't think the problem is Opera version, because I use this Opera version already 2 months or maybe more, but the bug appears maybe less then a month since Wine 1.1.24 or 1.1.25(I don't remember exact Wine version, but the bug still persit in the latest 1.1.26 version). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I don't understand what do you mean? Quite the contrary I thing this is a Wine bug, because with same versions of Opera and Flash Player and Wine 1.1.23 NO problem appears, but when I update only Wine to the newer version then problem appears. But the problem persist only if Wine running and if I close Wine(end wineserver process) then Opera and Flash Player works just fine. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I don't know if there is a connection with problems I have, but I found something interesting. I kept a close watch on processes and: 1. Wine 1.1.23 and 1.1.24 - When I open an application with Wine "wineserver" and "winemenubuilder" processes appears(the second process for a few seconds). If I close all Wine applications the "wineserver" process closes too. 2. Wine 1.1.25 and 1.1.26 - When I open an application with Wine "wineserver" and "winemenubuilder" processes appears permanently and still running if I close all Wine applications. Is this normal? I'll try to run a regression test, but later when I'll have enough free time. (In reply to comment #7)
Wine is a separate application and can't influence the behaviour of other applications.

If wine's eating up a ton of cpu, it could cause other programs to be buggy. Granted, the other programs should be fixed, but there's still a valid bug (wineserver not exiting). Besides a separate process can't "freeze" another separate process if they don't communicate with each other, which obviously is not the case here. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

wineserver/winemenubuilder shouldn't keep running it all applications are closed.

It depends on how much work winemenubuilder has to do. Again, in any case even if they are running they can't make Flash Player in Opera freeze. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I did some new tests. I did fresh and clean installation of Wine 1.1.26(I remove ~/.wine folder befor installation) and there is a small progress. Now some applications works great(like uTorrent), but with other applications the same problem appears(like Subtitle Workshop 2.51 and SA Dictionary 2005 T2). After that I tried this 3 mentioned applications with Wine 1.1.24 and there are no problems at all(with Opera/Flash Player and wineserver/winemenubuilder processes). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
