[Bug 45478] New: World of Warcrafft: graphical artifacts since 8.0 (BfA)
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45478 Bug ID: 45478 Summary: World of Warcrafft: graphical artifacts since 8.0 (BfA) Product: Wine-staging Version: 3.12 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: clm(a)martindroessler.de CC: leslie_alistair(a)hotmail.com, z.figura12(a)gmail.com Distribution: --- Created attachment 61826 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=61826 Screenshot showing the problem Since the new patch 8.0.1, there are graphical artifacts and wrong colors in some areas. E.g. in Antoran Wastes where half of the map and the sky is in a glowing yellow. Also when teleporting, the effect is a yellow square. I attached a screenshot. Thanks for the report. Is it possible to test this with upstream Wine?
Unfortunately not. I tried to run it with plain wine 3.12, but it won't even start properly. (It's not crashing either but just not rendering anything and becoming a zombie) -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You probably just restarted the graphics engine while doing this. Wait so time (can take a bit) and the error comes again. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

This may not be a bug with wine, since I was able to correct it in game, by going to the system menu, advanced, and selecting my graphics card. Changed from system default to GTX 970 and it rendered properly on all my characters, from that point forward.
Are you sure regarding the proper rendering? It might look like an improvement, but it seems to only "change" the problem. See the new screenshot attached - its after doing what you proposed. There are no longer artifacts around the character and so, but its still not right. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45478 --- Comment #9 from Steve Ebey <eaglecomputers.ok(a)gmail.com> --- Absolutely, I had the same issue in stormheim as shown in your screen shot. Logged to windows 10 and it was there also. Came back to wine, changed card setting, it went away. I am running DX11, since I do not as yet want to mess with implementing DXVK. Nividia cards have to be run in immediate mode for the vulkan driver to work properly, the default mailbox mode is not supported on Nvidia, and on my system in particular test vulkan with vkmark and score about 1200 points lower than glmark2. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. This is a strange problem. Some days when I log in the "/run RestartGx();" will fix things every time I change zones. Other days it doesn't help. It seems that changing the particle density will sometimes fix it also, but it is not consistent. I have a few friends playing on Windows 10, one with a very similar system to mine, but none have any problems like this. Symptom is a gradual increase in the number of polys that should be textured instead ending up in solid colors, usually (always?) all the same one (white, fuschia, red-orange, blue all common), that occasionally changes. Changing texture resolution in game sometimes helps. Rebooting doesn't seem to help. Dropping to minimum graphics settings and then bringing them back up worked (once so far). Blizzard just stopped supporting 32bit Win7, so my mom's WoW experience is now utterly reliant on Wine (and she hated having to boot Windows anyway). It's very specific to the BfA prepatch (so far), no issues in Legion. Blizzard changed something. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. A later updated to pba-firerat-3.11-x86_64 still evinces the same problem. I've noticed that often switching between normal and raid graphics modes (where raid mode is minimal) and back eliminates the problem for a while. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
