It's related to the StarForce protection driver, but not an actual copy-protection check failing. I tried running the StarForce protection driver update from http://www.star-force.com/support/sfdrvup.zip Note: sfdrvup.exe requires that some version of the protection driver already be installed. I had previously installed a game which uses StarForce under Wine. Console output is attached, but these lines stood out: wine: Call from 0x7b836822 to unimplemented function ntoskrnl.exe.IoCreateSynchronizationEvent, aborting wine: Unimplemented function ntoskrnl.exe.IoCreateSynchronizationEvent called at address 0x7b836822 (thread 0024), starting debugger... Unhandled exception: unimplemented function ntoskrnl.exe.IoCreateSynchronizationEvent called in 32-bit code (0x7b836822).
