[Bug 35783] New: Risk of Rain freezes randomly
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35783 Bug ID: 35783 Summary: Risk of Rain freezes randomly Product: Wine Version: 1.7.14 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: rmlipman(a)gmail.com The freezing can happen in game when collecting certain items such as the healing drone or the infusion. A reliable way to reproduce this is to open the monster log and click on any entry. When the game freezes, the sound and game calculations still continue. It's just the graphics that freeze. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35783 --- Comment #1 from Austin English <austinenglish(a)gmail.com> --- Please attach the full terminal output. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35783 rmlipman(a)gmail.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Keywords| |download --- Comment #2 from rmlipman(a)gmail.com --- I am unable to get terminal output for running the game itself. It only runs for me when launched by Steam. When launched through Steam I don't see any terminal output by the exe. When I launch the game standalone I get an error: "Access violation at address 0B98D248 in module 'Steam_GM.dll'. Read of address 00000000". A demo is available at http://www.indiedb.com/games/risk-of-rain but it's an older version that runs even slower than the full game so I'm unable to play for long enough to reproduce the crash in the demo. (bug 35633) In the demo, the monster log is unavailable so I don't know of an easy way to reproduce the error. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. I don't see any errors that seem related to game in the console (as opposed to the standard Steam cruft). -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. The SEH error seems to be a division by zero error and the game will continue to pump out seh messages until terminated. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. I'm working to try and get a debugging log like what Michael Curran was able to, but haven't succeeded yet. Michael Curran, could you tell me how you managed to get the traces? I'm running with wine 1.7.17 right now. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

I experience this issue as well. I'm working to try and get a debugging log like what Michael Curran was able to, but haven't succeeded yet.
Michael Curran, could you tell me how you managed to get the traces?
I'm running with wine 1.7.17 right now.
Basically, the monster encyclopedia triggers the crash, so I'd start winedbg, attach to the Risk of Risk process at the title screen, set BreakOnFirstChance to 1 and then open the encyclopedia and click on an entry. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Created attachment 48353 [details] Another Backtrace
That backtrace is deep inside your graphics driver. While it's not impossible that a bug in Wine would cause a crash with a backtrace originating inside the graphics driver, the fact that it's a division by zero and that it's so deep in the graphics driver's code suggests that it a bug in the graphics driver. Try a different driver and/or file the bug with the driver vendor. Michael Curran's backtrace in comment 5 / attachment 47906 is also a division by zero and also inside the graphics driver, although not as deep (although that backtrace doesn't seem complete). -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. I've attached my trace from clicking on an entry in the Monster log. To Ken, I'm able to run this game just fine inside a windows 7 virtualmachine using vmware. While the game was near unplayable prior to 1.7.14 due to low fps, I was able to use some of the items that currently cause this crash.
