As comment #2 says, due to lots of customer complaints this DRM was removed by game publishers in subsequent patch releases. The usage was very limited and the activation servers are most likely not alive anymore .. IMHO waste of time. Looking at the profile, patent filings and who they sued -> patent troll Tempted to close this ... but well.
