[Bug 11175] New: old patch on dib. c unapplied but still usefull for flash CS3
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11175 Summary: old patch on dib.c unapplied but still usefull for flash CS3 Product: Wine Version: 0.9.53. Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: x11-driver AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: kapouer_wine(a)melix.org The patch described here : http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2006-March/025018.html has been forgotten ? Flash CS3 has an unhandled page fault on startup, that is fixed by this patch. Unfortunately there's another page fault later on startup, but in adobeowl... that's another story. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

The patch is bad - it's uses prohibited function IsBadReadPtr(). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Aha, Alexandre suggested the same thing here: http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2006-April/046560.html Somebody tried to resubmit that patch in Feb 2007, but didn't follow that advice: http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2007-February/036060.html http://winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2007-February/054248.html This is a longstanding issue with a patch and a clear suggestion from Alexandre, so nominating for 1.0. BTW, it seems to me that telling people to get Adobe to fix their software is unhelpful because Adobe is unlikely to comply. If Adobe apps run on Windows, they ought to run on Wine. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Email read: "yes, but i ask this question : how could this patch be needed in wine 0.9= .53 and not in wine 0.9.4x ? i really suspect some X bug somewhere, i don't suspect program creators, = AFAIK it runs properly on windows." -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Kapouer, can you give instructions for how to reproduce the flash CS3 problem, along with the log?
I didn't have any success in using the installer with wine, so : 1) Install Flash CS3 on windows (with a proper license..., i did not check with the demo version, still instructions are the same) INSTALL FOR ALL USERS, it's simpler. 2) copy Program Files/Adobe Common Files/Adobe Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/Adobe to the corresponding folders in wine, for docs and settings it's windows/profiles/... 3) Still under windows, export adobe's registers in HKLM, HKCU to adobe-hklm.reg, adobe-hkcu.reg then import them to wine regedit adobe*.reg 4) wine Flash.exe Sorry i'll attach the log later, i'm away. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
