Thanks for reading my topic. Ubuntu 24.04.1 and WINE 9.18 ( version 9.21 crash some softwares related with the bug https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57306 so not tested with that version ). ROMCenter 4.1.1 32 bits. An rom manager software using database hash. When is done the creation of database happen an crash showing the error message below and close the software. IO Exception cannot locate resource images/defaultsystemicon.png Seeing in some sites is as if is related with net framework. Some WINE previous versions the software run perfectly without errors. If yes here is below. How create "backtrace" ? The bug happen in WINE version 9.10 and 9.18. The lines below are from WINE 9.10 using Mono 9.3.0. Please ignore lines about "DVXK". WINE has installed DXVK, but Romcenter not is an game. The software start, but in moment that will be created the window with database and icons for each line happen the crash. Romcenter had worked in WINE versions from before 2023-12. @Austin English I not has tested with native .net. That works for any software requiring net framework ? @Austin English I not has tested with native .net. That works for any software requiring net framework ?
Ideally things should work with wine-mono. If it doesn't, installing native .Net can serve as a workaround (and helps developers know that the problem is in the wine-mono component).

Perhaps the problem is the software trying create tmp files and not being possible access the tmp path folder ? Perhaps is an error in OS requiring install packages ? For luck open an debugger window with option to save the crash information in an backtrace file. I have uploaded the backtrace file. If using winetricks dotnet40 not start the software, but using mono load totally the software crashing when try create and database not allowing save backtrace file because not show WINE debugger crash window. Perhaps an new feature or "fix" in WINE previous versions is doing that bug ? Running "wine winedbg" and after "bt all" show an several lines about saved crash information. Please where is saved that information ? How clean that history ? For reference, here's how I reproduced the problem: 1. Install Romcenter using the romcenter32_4.1.1.exe installer. 2. Download MAME from https://github.com/mamedev/mame/releases/download/mame0284/mame0284b_x64.exe and run the executable to extract MAME to a directory. MAME is needed as a new database source for Romcenter. 3. Launch Romcenter and answer No to the "Removed rom strategy" prompt. 4. Press the New button on the ribbon menu of the main window. 5. Select mame.exe in the extracted MAME directory for the source datafile. 6. To avoid an out-of-memory condition, update the filter settings to enable "Games filtering" and select Drivers -> CPS 1, uncheck Samples and Disks for Type, and uncheck No dumps and Bad dumps for Status. 7. Press the create button to generate a new database. I can also confirm that Wine Mono 8.0.0 did not have the reported issue, but Wine Mono 8.1.0 did. It turns out that the fix for bug 49804 introduced the regression in Romcenter, presumably by allowing more code to run when the System.Windows.Controls.Ribbon control became available. The same reported issue is tracked in Wine Mono at https://github.com/wine-mono/wine-mono/issues/205 where a change has been made to fix the reported problem.
