Any programs which able to switch full screen is broken in full screen mode. As soon as it tries to switch in full screen and configured to displayed in desktop it switch to "window" with decorations and panel other it.
Your description is somewhat lacking, perhaps a before and after screenshot would be clearer. So you're saying that on resolution changes to a resolution less than the screen size the virtual desktop acquires decorations, right? (I.e. this is essentially a duplicate of bug 31250.) That's how it's supposed to work, the virtual desktop should have the fullscreen state when its size matches the screen resolution, and decorations when it doesn't. I didn't said that I change resolution to lower then actual desktop resolution or changed it at all, it is equal to actual desktop resolution! And I state so in my lats post.
All problem arouse when you try to use "Emulate a virtual desktop" set to match your display resolution.
To make it crystal clear: My display is 1600x1200 "Emulate a virtual desktop" is set to 1600x1200 Darkspore, as example here do not change resolution during it's start. Darkspore have it's launcher which check for updates and start as small window but it had to be set to use "Emulate a virtual desktop" and launcher starts in full-screen. You can obsolete attachments, and an admin could actually delete things, but it's not really worth it. That's mostly reserved for cases where someone attaches something we're not allowed to distribute.

Assuming that log is complete, update_desktop_fullscreen() certainly isn't adding any decorations, it's only setting _NET_WM_STATE_FULLSCREEN, which should already be set at that point anyway. I suppose there's a small chance the MWM hints are confusing the window manager, but those also should have been there before. Does the attached patch make any difference? Well, first I'm sorry, my previous "log of DarkSpore with patch to winegit from comment #14" in reality wasn't [b]WITH[/b]that patch. Now this log is with one and it do fix half the problem, DarkSpore in full-screen not getting decorated. Yes, it have focus, I Alt+Tab'ed several times and played a bit. patch from comment #19 haven't made any difference to the patch from comment #16. Picture all the same, as I posted in attachment #41245. No problems with switching to other windows. PS: I am a bit curious, why this commit was made in a first place? It isn't like it fix anything at all and I haven't found a bug tired to it, it only brake stuff! And I guess I know why it's all works for you, if you tested it under compiz then it is works when "legacy fullscreen workaround" in the workarounds plugin is set, but it shouldn't because this breaks practically all KDE4 applications. Closing bugs fixed in 1.5.11.
Rather than marking it as fixed, wouldn't it be better to mark it as invalid? BTW, I followed the link that hash provided to that RedHat bugzilla page, and it describes it as a bug in gtk, not compiz or ubuntu. Apologies, it would seem, upon reading that RedHat bugzilla link again, that compiz is to blame at least in part. Still, unless something changes in compiz, it seems as though this annoying behaviour won't change.
