[Bug 11290] New: Can't join chat room in paltalk
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11290 Summary: Can't join chat room in paltalk Product: Wine Version: CVS/GIT Platform: Other URL: http://paltalk.com OS/Version: other Status: NEW Keywords: download Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: shdocvw AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wine/+question/22643 says that paltalk lets you log in but not join chat rooms. I tried it out on vanilla wine from today's git on a 750MHz laptop with 384MB of RAM (hot stuff back in the day :-). The app seemed quite sluggish, and indeed, I was unable to join any chat rooms; when I tried, after ten seconds or so I got a chime noise that sounded like I had joined something, but nothing changed on the screen. There are also rendering anomolies in the genre selection list (sometimes items are shown under the wrong parent until you refresh). The app seems to use lots of embedded browser stuff, so I'm filing this under shdocvw as a wild guess. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Here it doesn't seem sluggish (no surprise). It seems to lock up now a few seconds after you log in. You can still browser for chatrooms, but you have to do it real quick after login to do it before it locks up. The lockup seems new, not sure what's causing it. Does it lock up for you? i.e. if you cover it and uncover it, does it redraw? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

It seems the app(Paltalk) can not connect to my internet, I could log in though. What I extra did was try to add my friend after he has joined the room and invited me in, but it didn't work either. :(( Hope that's fixed soon !!! Hi yall!! Paltalk.exe file works IE as its profile search browser etc. My paltalk loaded up fully for about 5 seconds, now it just half loads in wines default browser then a message pops up reading I need to check my firewall or internet connection then try again. My wine default browser each time zips IE8 files to the directory, afterwards an error shows saying it needs to close because maybe a problem in the program or a deficiency in wine. I never have been able to load-up IE, except once at 1st start it loaded for a sec and never anymore. Paltalk's exe.file depends on IE. wine 1.3.24 -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Also if I expand Europe room list is ok. But if I click in Spain the program crash and send the message: "Close Paltalk Messenger, test internet connection and configure your firewall". I configured firewall with open ports like says in the FAQ of Paltalk site, but not run. My internet connection run perfectly. Can you help me?. I'v installed Wine 1.6 RC3 in Ubuntu 13.04 under AMD Quad 64 bits with 4 gb RAM. The Paltalk Messenger version is 10.3 building 498. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11290 --- Comment #9 from Dan Kegel <dank(a)kegel.com> 2013-06-25 11:05:56 CDT --- No change since when I first filed the bug. Well, logging in works a bit nicer, and you actually see something on the screen when you hear the chim, but it's still sluggish and can't see or create rooms. If you do try clicking on 'create room', it usually crashes, e.g. Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0xfeeeffba in 32-bit code (0x7e282db5). Backtrace: =>0 TREEVIEW_ValidItem+0x25() in comctl32 1 TREEVIEW_GetItemT+0x4f(infoPtr=<?>, tvItem=<?>, isW=<?>) [dlls/comctl32/treeview.c:2106] 2 TREEVIEW_WindowProc+0x68e(hwnd=<?>, uMsg=<?>, wParam=<?>, lParam=<?>) [dlls/comctl32/treeview.c:5655] 3 WINPROC_wrapper+0x19() in user32 It also crashes on exit. 'winetricks ie7' makes the app look a bit better, but doesn't affect these problems. 'winetricks comctl32' doesn't seem to help. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Any idea if it is possible to reproduce the issue anymore? I visited the website and and made an account and tried to download the program but it gives a file with .dmg extension.
It gave you the Mac version. Their not-so-smart home page apparently mistakes Linux for MacOS, and that's all it offers you in a Linux browser. Spoofing the user agent in native Firefox doesn't work; downloading in a browser running in Wine might (I didn't try); downloading in Windows presumably would. The direct download link for the Windows version is (at the moment) http://download.paltalk.com/download/0.x/pal_install_u46626259_a729_r109812_.... -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11290 --- Comment #14 from winetest(a)luukku.com --- Seems to be valid issue. I don't know how this supposed to look nowadays, but it feels like that the channel list doesn't work as expected, I don't get any info of the users of the chatroom. All the efforts to join channel failed. I don't know if the chanel joining needs this function fixme:thread:NtQueryInformationThread info class 16 not supported yet but it's spammed quite often. wine 2.0.rc2. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
