Anyone else having the same problems, anyone got any fixes or idea? TDU installed fine, finished ok, but when I try to run it, I get the "splash" screen and then nothing, it basically dies.

Sadly updating to 1.0.0 worked, the games loads but then crashes my kubuntu session, not helpful! To clarify this: You meant you updated to wine 1.1.1, you get further with it as initially reported with wine 1.0.0 but later your xserver crashed?
Yes I meant 1.1.1 sorry.
