The program works correctly when tested against Windows XP Pro SP3. Note: An Everquest 2 account is NOT needed to work on this bug, as it occurs prior to login. I tried switching the overridden dll's to builtin one at a time, but couldn't narrow it down perfectly. With all builtin dll's, the installer launches, you confirm the install, you get a quick box showing launchpad installing (with some missing text, I'll file a new bug in a sec). After a minute or so, you'll get the critical section timeout. With native ie6, it installs fine. If you install native ie6, then set urlmon to builtin, the install will run fine, but after launchpad installs, it attempts to run Everquest II, then gets a critical section timeout. The app appears to hook a whole bunch of functions. It runs into an ie problem next, winetricks ie6 changes it and maybe works around it, but then it just exits silently. I tried in wine-1.3.8-153-g27d2b9b and 1.3.8, and get the same results. In both cases, the installer starts, installs Adobe flash, then a gray window appears and never gets beyond that. Looks like shdocvw/etc. at that point. The hacks no longer apply on wine-1.3.25-143-ge0f1aa0. The first hack is now properly implemented, and if I manually rediff the second, the game crashes when Launchpad is loaded (before, no crash, but just a gray window). The installers for Everquest 2 streaming and Everquest 2 full both work fine in wine 1.5.29. Sony has made major changes to LaunchPad since this bug was filed. It's possible that they fixed the bug in one of their upgrades.
