[Bug 22557] New: Dragon Age: Origins massive flickering and black screen
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22557 Summary: Dragon Age: Origins massive flickering and black screen Product: Wine Version: 1.1.43 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: neuro.courier(a)gmail.com Created an attachment (id=27665) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=27665) Log file when launching app Hi, When trying to run Dragon Age: Origins under Wine 1.1.43 it launches but upon reaching the game menu there is massive screen flickering and the app window is otherwise black. I tried the suggested solution in this entry, but it didn't change anything: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22383 Note that the game worked fine under Kubuntu 9.04 and broke after an upgrade to 10.04 - both running Wine 1.1.43. Rolling back to an earlier version (1.1.38) rendered the same results. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22557 Dan Kegel <dank(a)kegel.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEW CC| |dank(a)kegel.com Ever Confirmed|0 |1 --- Comment #3 from Dan Kegel <dank(a)kegel.com> 2011-03-15 15:00:05 CDT --- I reproduced the problem with current git on an i7 running Ubuntu 10.10 with an nvidia gt 240. The problem is *severe* in the main menu; only the top 1/8th of the screen is visible, the rest is black. This doesn't seem to be a dup of bug 22383, as the symptom there is supposedly vertical black lines across the intro video, not black bottom of screen in main menu. strictdrawordering=enabled was needed to see the intro videos at all, but does not help this problem. The patch attached to bug 23081 doesn't help. taskset -c 1 helps a little; with that, the flickering is merely horrible, not debilitating. Happily, changing DisableMRT to 1 in DragonAge.ini works around the problem and makes the menu visible without flickering. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22557 --- Comment #4 from Dan Kegel <dank(a)kegel.com> 2011-03-15 16:31:54 CDT --- Strangely, the workaround seems to have moved since I first tried it; now DisableMRT=1 doesn't help, but UseVsync=0 works around it reliably. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22557 --- Comment #6 from Xavier Vachon <xvachon(a)gmail.com> 2013-06-30 14:25:00 CDT --- As said in http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22383#c10 , I don't experience flickering anymore with the game. The videos are black if you don't use StrictDrawOrdering=enabled. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22557 --- Comment #7 from Dan Kegel <dank(a)kegel.com> 2013-06-30 19:02:09 CDT --- With wine-1.6rc4, i7, Ubuntu 13.04, GeForce GT 220, NVIDIA 310.44: Had to run in virtual desktop, else I sometimes hit https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/734908 No tweaks: black movies, flickering initial menu (though flickering is now only horrible instead of unplayable) + winetricks StrictDrawOrdering=enabled : main menu doesn't flicker; movies work but flicker badly + dragonage.ini DisableMRT=1: no change in main menu or movies, still flicker + dragonage.ini UseVSync=1 (yes, 1; it defaulted to 0, unlike before, maybe becaue!) main menu and movies work with no flickering So at least for my system, this bug is very much still here, though the workaround seems to have changed again since last time I tried it. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Anyway, I get black screen instead of the intro movie (but with StrictDrawOrdering enabled, I can see it)" Isn't that bug a duplicate of Bug 22383 ? http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22383#add_comment -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
