[Bug 23611] New: Max Payne cause Laptop overheating
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23611 Summary: Max Payne cause Laptop overheating Product: Wine Version: 1.2-rc7 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: linuxuser-sky(a)gmx.de Created an attachment (id=29532) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=29532) normal output When i start Max Payne my Laptop (Thinkpad T400) will overheat after a few minutes of play. I think it is a bug in the directx 3d function. It simply computes and calculates too much for my GPU (Radeon HD 3400) I used minimum detail. Why do i consider this as a bug: - Max Payne is very old and should run without causing overheating because of computing in cpu/gpu - Ravenshield who is the same gamesetting runs fine. - Modern games like Borderlands who need more GPU features/time run fine without overheating. As i dont know how to fix this issue i need help tracking it down to the code lines who are causing it. What is the next step ? As attachment the normal output of wine in a short play phase without overheating. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

As i dont know how to fix this issue i need help tracking it down to the code lines who are causing it. Contact manufacturer of your laptop. No software running on a PC/Laptop should be able to overheat it. If it does - it points to deficiency in PC/Laptop cooling system. No software can fix that.
