When I run it it works...

$ wine foo foo.exe
freopen() worked

Redhat 9 
Gnome terminal 
wine 20041019 


This is with foo.exe in the current (home) directory.

If you still get this please attach the results of the following command:

WINEDEBUG=+file wine foo foo.exe >& foolog.out
