You can only see the background and the mousecursor looks like a sword (so the cursor is changed properly by the game). Soundtrack plays too. And thats all. There are no buttons or menu entries only the background. Screen starts, music plays, and after a few time a debug screen from Ascaron appears. On a information tab in this window: "One of the operands in a floating-point operation is denormal. I created that one while trying to reproduce/investigate bug 21915 (this bug). The crash/exception presented there was clearly different... http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34687#c4 --- quote --- I tested the gog.com version of the game, and got the same result either with Wine 1.2.3 or 1.7.3 when using the built-in dbghelp.dll: the game throws an error message 'Could not find translation files' then it crashes. With 'dbghelp=n' the game starts fine with both Wine versions for me. --- quote --- Bug 34687 has the actual analysis/information hence I resolve this one as dupe. If 'dbghelp=n' still doesn't help the different versions tested here (steam,...) you might reopen/un-dupe it.
