It stucks but I only need to press Alt+Tab twice to get rid of the final splash screen. I also got stuck during gameplay with the demo version and cannot run 3DSetup (3DSetup works correctly with retail version). In the demo you have to wait about 10-15 seconds before the final splash screen lets you hit enter to exit, are you sure you're not being impatient? Why are you using sudo to kill nfs3.exe? You even unable to switch to another window and I remember well that in the previous version of wine the application exited quickly without any pause. No I do not run it as root. I tried to kill it with conventional command but it did not work, i dont know why. I did sudo and it worked. probably I simply should wait the command to work. It should be also noted that it stucks *after* switching the screen resolution to that of normal desctop settings.
