[Bug 18496] New: BREW simulator always shows a black display
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18496 Summary: BREW simulator always shows a black display Product: Wine Version: 1.1.21 Platform: Other OS/Version: other Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: jon.dufresne(a)gmail.com Tested with wine-1.1.21 I am attempting to use the Qualcomm BREW simulator under wine. After installing, I attempted to run the example applets. The application launches and I am able to select an applet directory, but the simulated device's screen always shows black and not the usual list of icons that represent available applets. The BREW simulator installer is found here: https://brewx.qualcomm.com/bws/content/gi/products/sdk/3.1/en/3.1.5.179/inst... Steps to reproduce: 1. Download and install BREW SDK simulator 2. Run simulator 3. Use menu to selec "File->Change Applet Dir..." 4. Navigate to c:/Program Files/BREW 3.1.5/sdk/examples/ 5. Hit "OK" 6. Notice screen is black Expected results: Under windows, the BREW simulator will show a listing of the available BREW applets (one for each *.mif file in the directory chosen). This list appears as a series of icons inside the device's display area. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Have you disabled compiz (3d desktop effects)?
It was never enabled to begin with. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I repeat the question, Have you disabled compiz (3d desktop effects)? Some distros have it enabled by default. What video card and driver version?
3d desktop effects are disabled and compiz is not running. I am running Fedora 11, however I compiled and installed wine from winehq's source package. My video card is a ATI Rage 128 Pro running the x.org r128 driver. I am happy to provide any information you require as well as any output that may help diagnose the bug. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18496 David <davidhodges.nz(a)gmail.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |davidhodges.nz(a)gmail.com --- Comment #7 from David <davidhodges.nz(a)gmail.com> 2011-12-31 02:10:40 CST --- I got the IMEDIA_MA5.dll by installing http://www.soft-go.com/get/Samsung-PC-Studio_1153.html (I used Google to find this). Then I installed msxml3 using winetricks and the BREW Simulator runs without error in wine 1.3.28, apart from a message "getaddrinfo() failed." after it's been running for about a second. It still does not display the icons from the MIF files though - it displays only a single icon labelled "Settings". I can access the application menus but it is useless. I upgraded to wine 1.3.35 and it made no difference. Running on Ubuntu Oneiric Ocelot on a Dell Vostro 1015 laptop. It has an Intel GM45 AGP chipset according to dmesg - I dunno how to tell what the actual video card is. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18496 --- Comment #8 from David <davidhodges.nz(a)gmail.com> 2011-12-31 02:27:36 CST --- I logged out and logged back in using Unity2D. (ps ax shows no compiz). It made no difference. I have noticed that the BREW Simulator gives a black display under Windows with a few device packs - switching to a different device pack (including the default one) fixes this. Also if I set my application to start automatically, it will start regardless of device pack. I have to start my app manually at least once before I can ever start it automatically though - and there is currently no way to do this running under Wine, as the icon for my application (or any other application) is not displayed. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18496 --- Comment #9 from David <davidhodges.nz(a)gmail.com> 2013-02-05 02:31:23 CST --- In Wine 1.4.1 I get a different error. The display looks fine but the simulator seems to have trouble finding my *.mif files - it doesn't display any of them - so it's still unusable. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
