The version is Basics (the new cheaper version). Anyway, it doesn't install at all, which surprised me, because previous versions have installed well. I am attaching the crash output because I suspect that it needs a set of C++ libraries that I don't have. I tried again to install 13.0, this time on the same wineprefix on which I was running 12.5 (12.5 installed and ran successfully). 13.0 did not install, as usual, with a small pop-up that said I had the wrong IE version and the same terminal input as above. Then I tried running 12.5 again. When purchasing Naturally Speaking on the internet, as of Version 13 the actual file does not download, just a file that serves as a portal to download the "real" installation file. I purchased the software and assumed the downloaded file was the installation file, and tried to install it on Linux using wine, which did not work, so I filed this bug. Here's what the story really is. The downloaded file has to be loaded onto a Windows machine. When run, it performs its only function, which is to download the "real" NatSpeak installation file. (There is nothing on the Nuance website to indicate this.) So this bug was filed against the "portal" file. Whoops. When the "real" file is copied to a linux machine, installation completes successfully, ever though the product does not run. For further information, see bug 38000. The file that I attempted to install was not an actual Dragon Naturally Speaking 13.0 Basic installation file, but a "portal" file. This "portal" file, when run on a windows machine, just downloads the actual Dragon Naturally Speaking 13.0 Basic installation file. So running the portal file with wine does not "work," and wine cannot download the actual NatSpeak installation file, but I'm not sure it is helpful, since the work-around is so easy and appears not to affect the installation of the program. The work-around is to purchase the program, download the "portal" file to a Windows machine, and then run it. Windows will download the "real" installation file, and put it wherever you wish. This bug is invalid because the bug was filed against an invalid NatSpeak installation file. As of version 13.0, purchasing NatSpeak allows the purchaser to download only a "portal" file, which must be run on a Windows machine, and which has as its sole purpose the download of the "real" installation file. Such "portal" file must be run from a Windows machine. No big loss. The "real" installation file appears to install flawlessly on linux to a 32-bit wine prefix, although I have not been able to get the program to run.
Well, the 'portal' file should download the real installer under wine as well.
