Its your decision, as current worker of msi, to set the version. But I don't see
why cvs is wrong. My point is, as a user, there where quite some commits related
to msi since the wine 9.40 release, so I cant really judge whats better .9.40 or
cvs. 
If you want it exactly: wine --version wine-0.9.40-296-g55d70e8
