[Bug 38856] New: LEGO Lord of the Rings crashes randomly
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38856 Bug ID: 38856 Summary: LEGO Lord of the Rings crashes randomly Product: Wine Version: 1.7.44 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: dmlambea(a)gmail.com Distribution: --- Created attachment 51783 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=51783 Terminal output Game randomly crashes with a "wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000000 at address 0x6594a6 (thread 0009), starting debugger..." message (thread and address numbers vary). Apart from this, which uses to happen at high-activity stages, as when fighting against Sauron or against Nazgul, the rest is normal: gameplay is smooth, even with all features enabled or set to high; audio plays perfectly. I've tried with single and dual player, always with XBox360 USB controllers. Other LEGO games, like LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, run flawlessly with the same controllers. The crash happens with both win32 and win64 Wine prefixes, and with both retail and Steam versions. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. I have never experienced a known problem that was fixed with installing winbind. I doubt installing it fixes this either. I would say these are more serious. err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {77f10cf0-3db5-4966-b520-b7c54fd35ed6} not registered err:ole:CoGetClassObject no class object {77f10cf0-3db5-4966-b520-b7c54fd35ed6} could be created for context 0x1 err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {e2b3c97f-6ae1-41ac-817a-f6f92166d7dd} not registered err:ole:CoGetClassObject no class object {e2b3c97f-6ae1-41ac-817a-f6f92166d7dd} could be created for context 0x1 -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. It hung while loading my save in the map screen, didn't even make it into the actual game. Would be glad to troubleshoot further if anyone has any suggestions. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38856 --- Comment #8 from Daniel M. Lambea <dmlambea(a)gmail.com> --- This is somehow difficult to try. I lost my savegame and the game requires some time to get into the crash point. I am trying again, but I'm having strange issues with the controllers than prevent me from playing. Those issues are not related to this, but I leave them here for the record: - Using Steam's version *without* controller support for XBox: controllers seem to be detected in the initial cinematics (the "Y" button is offered to be pushed for skipping the cinematics). Main menu navigation seems to work, but reassinging controllers don't. The controller seems to act now as a keyboard. In-game, no action can be performed with the controllers. - Using Steam's version *with* controller support for XBox: controllers are not detected in the initial cinematics (the "u" key is offered to be pushed for skipping the cinematics). Main menu navigation don't work. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38856 --- Comment #9 from Seemoss <pro102(a)chinesetearoom.com> --- For what it's worth, I think this bug is fixed. I had an old prefix from 2016 with the Steam version of the game. I had stopped playing because the game would randomly hang during the first Nazgul fight (in some sort of stone circle, I think) before getting to Rivendell. I recently picked it up again with Wine v4 and this time I was able to play through this section of the game to reach Rivendell (with game controllers and coop with my daughter). Sorry I don't have any more details but I no longer have this prefix installed on my computer. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
