Deps added for second backtrace unless identical: vcrun2008, d3dx9_43. Ignore my last question. I see now that it's the game demo. A fair warning, nobody but the creator(s) know where this patch originated from, it's been my only reason to use Windows in over three years and I wish I could get a good trace to get it running. :p Patch could be made by hackers, TTLG devs or even SHODAN herself for all I know. Yet, no trace of any SHODAN, trojan or virus. Backtrace with overrides gave me nothing further to go on.

The game starts the menu and I can select the New Game option. Starting the game in terminal from where the executable resides (cd .wine/drive_c/Sshock2/) and it runs successfully without a hitch.
