[Bug 16017] New: Counter Strike Source Stutters
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16017 Summary: Counter Strike Source Stutters Product: Wine Version: 1.1.8 Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: nheinen(a)gmail.com Hardware: AMD X2 3800+ nVidia GF 6600GT 128MB Kernel 2.6.27 Wine 1.18 Drivers 177.80 nVidia Description: The games runs smooth 60+ fps otherwise. When this bug occurs the screen stutters/hitches/freezes and sounds will repeat(usually a grenade being thrown or exploding seem to be commond sounds that play when this happens). This can last from 1 to 5 seconds. The Hud will often redraw. After this the game is playable again but occurs frequently, every 2-3 rounds of play. This occurs on all maps while playing online. It occurred on both 64bit and 32 bit builds of linux. There doesn't seem to be any meaningful output from the console. This bug does not occur using windows operating system on my hardware. It only occurs when using wine. I think it is related to this. http://half-life.wikia.com/wiki/Source_Engine#Stutter heres a whole webpage dedicated to it http://www.blep.net/hl2stutter/ I have tried dxlevel 7 8 and 8.1 In winecfg audio acceleration Full, Standard, and Basic I've tried all the suggested solutions on the second url above. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16017 --- Comment #3 from Norm Heinen <nheinen(a)gmail.com> 2009-06-05 11:46:36 --- I've tested this on new hardware and still experience this stutter. Core 2 Duo P8600 @ 2.4Ghz 4GB Ram GeForce 9600GS 512Mb uname -a Linux kontrol 2.6.29-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed May 20 06:42:43 UTC 2009 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8600 @ 2.40GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux pacman -Q bin32-wine nvidia alsa-utils bin32-wine 1.1.22-1 nvidia 180.51-1 alsa-utils 1.0.20-1 Counter Strike Launch Options -dxlevel 81 -heapsize 1048576 -w 1440 -h 900 Again this usually occurs with HE explosions, but not every explosion affects this hitching/stuttering. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Afterall, when you throw a frag it decreases your fps on any system, it just usually isn't enough to matter. Have any of you have fixed your fps (keeping it consistently high) and still have this problem? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

The problem was overclocking. Although my cpu was stable, my ram was not. Try setting it to a lower frequency. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16017 --- Comment #7 from emshains(a)gmail.com 2009-12-09 15:08:34 --- Oh, the specs are: amd 5000+ x2, 1 gb of ddr2 800 ram, asus m2n-sli n560 mother board, fsb raised from 200 to 230. This is when the problems started to occur, I had all sorts of mystic freezes and gui-restarts, until I change the ddram freq from 800 to 667, that fixed it for me. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
