This may be a bug in Freetype, but I couldn't get an answer on #winehackers
last time I asked...

$ cd ~/wine-git/fonts
$ make clean && make &> log
$ grep -c 'bad news' log
1688

So either:
A) there's a wine bug to fix
B) the error should be ignored (and the fprintf removed)
C) there's an upstream bug
