I can tell you for sure this is not the case since I worked with LTspice for more than 10 years. However, if that is not enough, you can go to the unofficial Yahoo!Groups, https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/ltspice/info, and search or ask there. You will see the same responses. I can say "duplicate" in one ltspice - pane within windows, mark the corresponding elements, switch to the other window pane (containing a different schematic) and paste the duplicated structure by Strg - V. Try on your own, this works flawlessly in windows. Attempting to do the very same action within wine does actually not work for me, (same version of ltspice, of course!). This is the reason why I opened this bug. This is not true. I can say "duplicate" in one ltspice - pane within windows, mark the corresponding elements, switch to the other window pane (containing a different schematic) and paste the duplicated structure by Strg - V. Try on your own, this works flawlessly in windows. Attempting to do the very same action within wine does actually not work for me, (same version of ltspice, of course!). This is the reason why I opened this bug. I am using the latest version of ltspice as available from the main download site.
Have you tried with my suggestion:

I overread your hint - thank you very much, this is actually working - and moreover this helps me a lot. However, as I said, there are no comparable restrictions in windows, therefore I consider this a wine bug.
Anyway, this is a bug - be it small or not - that I think would be worth fixing, as nobody expects such a behaviour.
I suppose it can be regarded as such, but this is an old, known problem/solution. However, it may soon be irrelevant -- a new version of Lspice is brewing. (I am not affiliated with Linear)
