Heh.  Doing

cd .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Adobe/InDesign\ CS\ Trial/
cd Plug-Ins/Script/
mkdir bad
mv Support\ for\ Visual\ Basic.apln bad
chmod 000 bad

works around the problem.

Conversely,

mv Plug-Ins Plug-Ins.foo
mkdir Plug-Ins
mv Plug-Ins.foo/Script/Support\ for\ Visual\ Basic.apln Plug-Ins

makes the problem happen a bit quicker.
(If you're wondering, no, winetricks wsh56 or dcom98 still don't help.)
