I have almost exactly the same problem and a different app.
It only happens when logged in remotely.
I'm using Wine built from current CVS, on an FC3 laptop.
To reproduce:

wget http://toolbar.google.com/picasa/picasa2-setup-1884.exe
wine picasa2-setup-1884.exe
ssh -X localhost
cd '.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Picasa2'
wine Picasa2.exe

This yields
