https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46578 --- Comment #2 from Drude <drude(a)outlook.com> --- This might very well be a bug within IMVU itself rather than Wine, the IMVU client and service are both generally pretty buggy on Windows natively and it's an accepted fact by most members who has been using IMVU for any length of time. IMVU has been suffering higher instability than usual over the last few days, "they must be updating the servers" is the comment most tend to make. I have noticed on Windows that when the service (servers) drops the client, the client often seems to lose stability on the local machine. The web based client found at [https://secure.imvu.com/next/] has also been having errors along with the desktop and mobile apps, not just for myself but other uses in many locations, not the within the US. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Can you please test with a recent development release (specifically, 4.17 or later)? There's a chance that 22993aff9 may have fixed this. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

I have installed the version of wine from the winehq-devel package for Ubuntu 19.10 following the instructions on the wiki. Wine reports its version as wine-4.19. The IMVU application seems to have some kind of hang that happens shortly after it is opened on that version, so it's not usable (the application becomes completely unresponsive with high CPU usage and stops redrawing its window). But, on one attempt, I was able to open the settings menu and it displayed correctly, though I wasn't able to test closing a tab or changing any settings before the program hung again. I think maybe one problem has been traded for another? :) I'll attach the error output in the console, just in case it's useful, but I'm not sure it's related to this particular problem. Also, I can confirm that the software works (mostly) correctly on Wine 2.21, for those who really need it to. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
