[Bug 6254] Installer infinite loop from rich text error

I am attempting to use git commit -a per the Wiki and I get the following
error:

68-241-145-80:~/Desktop/darwine/wine-0.9.54 jamesmckenzie$ git commit -a
* no commit message?  aborting commit.
68-241-145-80:~/Desktop/darwine/wine-0.9.54 jamesmckenzie$ git commit -a
* no commit message?  aborting commit.

When I edit the commit message.  Any ideas on what to do?
