https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45717 Bug ID: 45717 Summary: Administrator needed on WinUAE for certain functions Product: Wine Version: unspecified Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: yesideez(a)hotmail.co.uk Distribution: --- When using WinUAE within Windows, it's listed in the documentation that it needs to be run as administrator mode when trying to manipulate a hard drive. Scenario: Plugging in an Amiga hard drive to the machine via a USB adaptor or even directly in to one of the IDE ports if WinUAE isn't run as administrator, none of the drives in the machine can be accessed. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Processes started with Wine run with Windows administrator rights by default unless the app explicitly adjusts privileges/token security. Please provide logs/steps to show the misbehaviour. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45717 --- Comment #2 from Ivan <yesideez(a)hotmail.co.uk> --- No, it doesn't complain - it's just well known in the Amiga community that if you intend on accessing hard drives directly via WinUAE, you *must* run it as administrator. I've tried everything I can to get WinUAE to access a hard drive and it won't do it so I've had to keep a spare laptop running Windows and WinUAE until hopefully this can be rectified. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. I guess, the needed functions to access the drives are simply not available. It's very rare that you want a program to access a raw disk. I guess USB needs special drivers, no? FWIW, the source-code of the program is available, should make it easier to track down what isn't working: https://github.com/tonioni/WinUAE -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45717 --- Comment #4 from Ivan <yesideez(a)hotmail.co.uk> --- There's no functionality to access the drives and I can't read C source so that's not an option. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
