Currently using Ubuntu 3.0-1ubuntu1 from Ubuntus repositories since the rest works fine so far I'm with "never change a running system" :-) The bug has changed, as there are no more crashes, so I can repeatedly continue edditing. However the final result-reporting window of VideoRedo is allways empty.
