Nothing unusual which could explain the errornous behaviour.
Could you please test which version of wine is the earliest one after 0.9.27
where you see the broken menu ("incorrect letters").

Begin with the last working version 0.9.2x
Check the user interface: if menu is correctly displayed (ignore umlaute issue)
Take next version and so on ... until you reach the version where the menu
display is broken.

We need to know the exact version where it broke, not just a range (like works
in 0.9.27 and doesnt work 0.9.35).
