[Bug 37942] New: World of Warcraft (6.0.3) hangs: 100% CPU usage
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37942 Bug ID: 37942 Summary: World of Warcraft (6.0.3) hangs: 100% CPU usage Product: Wine Version: 1.7.33 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3dx9 Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: StormByte(a)gmail.com Distribution: --- Prior to 6.0, World of Warcraft worked well under wine, at least the time I've been playing. Now, it just freezes with 100% CPU usage (only in 1 core), but don't happen always, sometimes at the end of loading bar, sometimes just when walking, but it happens near 100% of the time I open it. I used also winetricks to install d3d9 stuff, and also tried opengl, nothing prevented those freezes. Also, I am using the 64bit client as I have my system as 64bit. Maybe related to #29584 as it happens sometimes also on the load bar.. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37942 --- Comment #4 from David <StormByte(a)gmail.com> --- It seems to me that there is an infinite loop somewhere and is causing this. I've seen this weird behavior in other faulty tests about infinite loops. I need advise to debug it more, just tell me how and I will provide more logs upon request. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. What on Earth is this?
Try again in a new, clean WINEPREFIX without any workarounds. If workarounds are needed then explain what they are and why.
Third party wrappers are not supported here.
I already tried this with the same result, it will just stall with 100% CPU usage, just that not at the very start, it happens at random points but for me with a 100% of cases. primusrun is a wrapper to run it thought nvidia card instead of internal intel one. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. After some seconds/minutes in game, game freeze and one core stuck at 100%. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37942 --- Comment #9 from Maxime Daniel <root(a)maxux.net> --- I tried to play with WINEDEBUG=+all,-heap, the game is of course pretty slow (3 fps instead of ~40 fps) but I was able to play more than 1h without freeze. Without debug message, it takes each time less than 4 minutes before freeze. I suspect a race condition which makes infinite loop (which does not occurs when enabling debug because it slow down things) -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Yes, this bug seems abandoned :( I can still reproduce with Legion and wine version 1.9.19. Game is totally unplayable with wine as of this bug. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
